Who is...

Nathan A. Duguid

Nathan is an artist and activist building civic imagination for a generation that refuses to wait its turn. Rooted in Newark, his work merges music, faith, and policy to transform youth experience into collective power.

At Rutgers University - Newark

#RCROWNS

His latest project, #RCROWNS, is a multidisciplinary research and arts initiative examining Black hair as a site of cultural meaning and social power. Through photography, qualitative storytelling, culminating in a public symposium, the project documents how personal experience intersects with systemic norms around professionalism, race, and belonging.

In The Community

Young Voters Association

He is the founder of the Young Voters Association (YVA), a civic organization working to modernize youth political engagement and representation. Through policy advocacy, research, and youth-led community organizing, YVA challenges the structural barriers that exclude young people from decision-making spaces.

In Sound and Story

Miztyk

Under the name Miztyk, his art uses music as a site of reflection, prayer, and political imagination. Blending hip-hop, jazz, neo-soul, and gospel, his work wrestles with faith, identity, and the tension between personal conviction and collective responsibility. Miztyk’s sound is less about performance and more about presence—inviting listeners to slow down, listen closely, and reckon honestly.
